| This two story wood
frame Queen Anne home features bowed bay windows and large window panes. This home at one
time had a wrap around Queen Anne style porch. The present owner removed the porch and
installed two panels of colored glass and a more federal colonial type porch. The house
seems to have been originally all Queen Anne. Also this house has a stone chimney and
multiple roof levels with a steep pitch. |
| This home was built
around 1895 by John Cappon, manager of the Cappon-Bertsch tannery. In 1902 Cappon built a
large colonial revival home down the street at 268 Maple Ave. From 1903 1920
Nicholas Steffens, a professor at Western Seminary and later his widow, lived here. Robert
Cecil, a Hope College professor, took ownership of the home in 1962. |
